Caldecott Medal awarded by ALSC and by BCS

The Association for Library Service to Children recently announced the winners of the 2008 Caldecott Medal. The ceremony took place during the American Library Association’s Midwinter Conference on Monday, January 26th. This year’s winners:

At Berkeley Carroll, the First and Third Graders have been studying the Caldecott and evaluating the books of 2008 to determine which books they deemed worthy of their very own BCS Mock Caldecott Award. The results:

Thank you so much to Caldecott Committee Member Rachel Payne for her visit to our school. She helped us understand how the Caldecott Committee does its job and what a big task it is to choose a winner from more than 700 books each year.
